Eighteen Thousand Islands is the company behind the original Sataybar restaurants in Melbourne, Australia (2004-2012). Its award winning formula paved the way for the one-trick-wonder food phenomenon that has swept Melbourne off its feet ever since.

As Masterchef host and the then Age food critic Matt Preston said himself back in 2004, "In an era when every little hole-in-the-wall tries to offer a full menu, the smart thing about Sataybar is that it aims to do just one thing and do it well. That thing is satay."
